During my semester at CMAST, I completed an internship dedicated to studying the impact of microplastics on biological systems. My research centered on conducting necropsies on stranded Great Shearwaters, where I meticulously recorded their physical statistics and other relevant data. The primary objective was to analyze their stomach contents, with a particular focus on quantifying the levels of microplastics present and assessing their potential effects on the birds’ health and mortality.
